10-11 APRIL 2019 ///
Within the space of a few years, the French solar energy market has undergone profound and accelerated change. This change was driven by the stabilization and simplification of the regulatory framework, the intensification of the pace of tenders, and an overall increase in the government’s ambitions and initiatives.
Together with other factors - such as high levels of solar irradiation, the introduction of a beneficial self-consumption scheme and the rise of the additional remuneration mechanism - this has led to the emergence of one of the world’s most attractive solar markets.

Self consumption of solar power has become an attractive proposition for an increasing number of commercial energy consumers in France. A reason for this trend is that self-consumption has become a centrepiece of the energy transition, thanks to a range of instruments, from tenders to the #PlaceAuSoleil initiative. We've built up a line of 'Unlocking Solar Capital' events - with editions in Africa, Latin America and Asia - that focus on connecting conventional financing with project development, we host the annual 'Making Solar Bankable' event in Amsterdam together with Dutch development bank FMO, and always include a wide range of financial topics and speakers in all the events we organize. Furthermore, we've hosted a series of conference on innovative financing methods and practices, like the 'Renewable Energy Crowdfunding' conferences (hosted twice in London) and the YieldCon events (organized in New York and London).
Expanding upon this and further aligned with our new 'Future Grid' division, we're approaching the topic of blockchain, which we had already touched upon in several of our other events.
